Artwork

Uploading long Artwork

How to upload Featured Artwork or a regular Artwork Showcase image so it displays at full height on your Steam profile.

Open upload page
  • Open the Steam upload page in a browser where you are signed in to Steam.
  • Click Choose File and select your PNG or GIF file.
  • Open the browser console: Chrome - Ctrl+Shift+J, Firefox - Ctrl+Shift+K.
  • In Firefox, type allow pasting in the console first and press Enter.
  • Paste the required command below and press Enter.
  • Enter an artwork title, confirm authorship, then click Save and Continue.
  • Open Edit Profile -> Featured Showcase, choose the showcase and assign the uploaded artwork.

After upload, Steam may show a thin black line as the preview. That is expected. The artwork will display at full height inside the profile showcase.

Artwork / Featured Artwork
$J('#image_width').val(1000).attr('id',''),$J('#image_height').val(1).attr('id','');
Screenshot Showcase
$J('#image_width').val(1000).attr('id',''),$J('#image_height').val(1).attr('id',''),$J('[name=file_type]').val(5);
Workshop

Workshop GIF showcase

An animated Workshop showcase is uploaded as 5 separate GIF parts. Our editor exports a ready ZIP; upload the parts one by one from left to right.

  • Accept the Workshop Legal Agreement; Steam will reject uploads without it.
  • Open the Steam upload page in a browser where you are signed in to Steam.
  • Open the console (Ctrl+Shift+J) and paste the command below to set the correct Workshop upload type.
  • Upload the first GIF part, add a title and save it. Repeat for all 5 parts.
  • In Edit Profile -> Featured Showcase, choose Workshop and assign the 5 uploaded items.

If you want to upload your own ready-made GIF without splitting it again, use GIF Hex Patcher and replace the last byte with 21 on hexed.it before uploading.

Workshop upload type
$J('[name=consumer_app_id]').val(480);$J('[name=file_type]').val(0);$J('[name=visibility]').val(0);
Profile

Transparent profile

A transparent profile requires the Transparency Bundle from Steam Points Shop. It switches the profile background into Steam's transparent mode.

Steam Points Shop
  • Open Steam Points Shop and find the Transparency Bundle.
  • After activation, open Edit Profile and choose a game profile that supports transparency.
  • Re-apply your profile background, avatar frame and mini-profile because Steam may reset these settings.
  • Save the profile. Press F5 if the profile preview does not refresh immediately.

Artwork Showcase and Screenshot Showcase require Steam level 10 or higher. Featured Artwork Showcase unlocks later. If the option is not available in Edit Profile > Featured Showcase, the account level is still too low.

Featured Artwork is one large central image across the profile, 630 px wide.

Artwork Showcase is the classic split layout: 506 px main image plus a 100 px right side panel.

Workshop Showcase uses five narrow GIF parts and is best for animated profile layouts.

That is normal for long artwork uploads. The console method makes Steam see the image as 1000x1 px during upload. After you assign it inside the profile showcase, it displays at full height.

Steam changes the upload page from time to time. Try enabling Enable Long Artworks and Long Screenshots manually and choose the required upload type from the dropdown. Use Chrome or Firefox and make sure you are signed in to Steam in that browser.

Yes. PNG and static character artwork are easiest to prepare in Builder. GIF and video files for Workshop showcases are handled by the Workshop editor, which splits them into 5 parts and applies the required Hex Patch. If the file is too heavy, reduce duration, FPS or resolution in the optimizer first.

  • Make sure your Steam level is high enough for the selected showcase type.
  • For Workshop uploads, accept the Workshop Legal Agreement.
  • Upload the 5 Workshop parts in strict order: 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5.
  • If Steam shows an error, refresh the page; the file may already be uploaded.
  • Use Chrome or Firefox.
  • Press F5 or Ctrl+F5 because Steam caches profile previews.
  • Check that the artwork is assigned to the correct showcase in Edit Profile > Featured Showcase.
  • Make sure the uploaded artwork visibility is set to Public.
  • Wait a few minutes; Steam sometimes delays profile updates.
